...."sun" and "moon"....
Moreover, in the traditions the terms "sun" and "moon"
have been applied to prayer and fasting, even as it is said: "Fasting is
illumination,
prayer is light." One day, a well-known divine came to visit Us. While
We were conversing with him, he referred to the above-quoted tradition.
He said: "Inasmuch as fasting causeth the heat of the body to increase,
it hath therefore been likened unto the light of the sun; and as the
prayer of the night-season refresheth man, it hath been compared unto
the radiance of the moon." Thereupon We realized that that poor man had
not been favoured with a single drop of the ocean of true understanding,
and had strayed far from the burning Bush of divine wisdom. We then
politely observed to him saying: "The interpretation your honour hath
given to this tradition is the one current amongst the people. Could it
not be interpreted differently?" He asked Us: "What could it be?" We
made reply: "Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets, and the most
distinguished
of God's chosen Ones, hath likened the Dispensation of the Qur'an unto
heaven, by reason of its loftiness, its paramount influence, its
majesty,
and the fact that it comprehendeth all religions. And as the sun and
moon constitute the brightest and most prominent luminaries in the
heavens,
similarly in the heaven of the religion of God two shining orbs have
been ordained -- fasting and prayer. 'Islam is heaven; fasting is its

وحدت مظاهر الهی
خواست يزدان از پديداری فرستادگان دو چيز بود نخستين رهانيدن مردمان از
تيرگی نادانی و رهنمائی به روشنائی دانائی دويم آسايش ايشان و شناختن و
دانستن راه های آن پيمبران چون پزشکانند که به پرورش گيتی و کسان آن
پرداختهاند تا به درمان يگانگی بيماری بيگانگی را چاره نمايند در کردار و
رفتار پزشک جای گفتار نه زيرا که او بر چگونگی کالبد و بيماريهای آن آگاه
است و هرگز مرغ بينش مردمان زمين به فراز
آسمان دانش او نرسد پس اگر رفتار امروز پزشک را با گذشته يکسان نبينند جای
گفتار نه چه که هر روز بيمار را روش جداگانه سزاوار و همچنين پيمبران يزدان
هر گاه که جهان را به خورشيد تابانِ دانش درخشان نمودند به هر چه سزاوار
آن روز بود مردم را به سوی خداوند يکتا خواندند و آنها را از تيرگی نادانی
به روشنائی دانائی راه نمودند پس بايد ديده مردم دانا بر راز درون ايشان
نگران باشد چه که همگی را خواست يکی بوده و آن راهنمائی گمگشتگان و آسودگی
درماندگان است ... ;

Detachment consists in ....
Material favors sometimes deprive us of spiritual favors
and material rest of spiritual rest. A rich man said to Christ, "I would
fain be thy disciple."
"Go and put into practice the ten commandments," replied the Christ.
"But I know them by heart and have always practiced them." "Then sell
what thou
hast and take up thy cross and follow me." The man returned to his home.
But the rich who are attracted through their hearts have the spark and
are
like unto brilliant torches. BAHA'ULLAH has spoken of the importance of
their station. Certain rich ones have sacrificed their possessions and
even
their lives for this cause. Riches did not prove an obstacle for them
and they are like unto stars in the heaven of both worlds - flames of
reality.
Detachment does not consist in setting fire to one's house, or becoming bankrupt or throwing one's fortune out of the window, or even giving away all of one's possessions. Detachment consists in refraining from letting our possessions possess us. A prosperous merchant who is not absorbed in his business knows severance. A banker whose occupation does not prevent him from serving humanity is severed. A poor man can be attached to a small thing.

Prayer for Bahais of Iran
O God, my God! Thou seest Thy loved ones turning their hearts to
Thee, and holding fast onto the cord of Thy ordinances and laws. I

through whom Thou didst adorn the heavens of Thy might, to graciously

O Land of Tá (Ṭihrán)
Let nothing grieve thee, O Land of Tá (Ṭihrán), for God hath chosen thee to
be the source of the joy of all mankind. He shall, if it be His Will,
bless thy throne with one who will rule with justice, who will gather
together the flock of God which the wolves have scattered. Such a ruler
will, with joy and gladness, turn his face towards, and extend his
favors unto, the people of Bahá. He indeed is accounted in the sight of
God as a jewel among men. Upon him rest forever the glory of God, and
the glory of all that dwell in the kingdom of His revelation.

At the individual level, justice is ......
At the individual level, justice is that faculty of the human soul that
enables each person to distinguish truth from falsehood. In the sight of God,
&Baha'u'llah avers, justice is "the best beloved of all things" since it permits
each individual to see with his own eyes rather than the eyes of others, to
know through his own knowledge rather than the knowledge of his neighbor or his
group. It calls for fair-mindedness in one's judgments, for equity in one's
treatment of others, and is thus a constant if demanding companion in the daily
occasions of life.
At the group level, a concern for justice is the indispensable compass in collective decision making, because it is the only means by which unity of thought and action can be achieved. Far from encouraging the punitive spirit that has often masqueraded under its name in past ages, justice is the practical expression of awareness that, in the achievement of human progress, the interests of the individual and those of society are inextricably linked. To the extent that justice becomes a guiding concern of human interaction, a consultative climate is encouraged that permits options to be examined dispassionately and appropriate courses of action selected. In such a climate the perennial tendencies toward manipulation and partisanship are far less likely to deflect the decision-making process.

"ایّام هاء"
اساس تقویم بدیع، سال شمسی است که 365 روز و 5 ساعت و تقریباً 50 دقیقه است. تقویم بدیع شامل نوزده ماه نوزده روزه است که جمعاً 361 روز می شود. چهار روز باقی مانده که در سالهای کبیسه پنج روز می گردد، به "ایّام هاء" مشهور است. حضرت باب موقع ایام هاء را در تقویم صریحاً معیّن نفرمودند. حضرت بهاءالله در کتاب مستطاب اقدس آن ایام را بلافاصله قبل از شهر العلاء که ماه صیام است، قرار داده اند.مّت ایام الاعطاء قبل الامساک فلیدخلنّ فی الصیّام کذلک حکم مولی الانام" (آیه 43)
(مضمون: زمانی که ایام اعطاء (ایام هاء) قبل از روزهای امساک (روزه داری) به پایان رسید، پس وارد صیام می شود چنین حکم کرده مولای مردمان)
حضرت بهاءالله در بند 16 از کتاب اقدس می فرمایند: " انّا جعلناها مظاهر الهاء بین اللیالی و الایام." ( همانا آن را مظاهر (هاء) بین روزها و شب ها قرار دادیم). بنابراین ایام زائده در تقویم که به ایام هاء معروف است، امتیازش در این است که مظاهر حرف " هاء" می باشد. ارزش عددی حرف "هاء" به حساب ابجد، پنج است که با حدّ اعلای ایام زائده مطابق است. در آثار بهائی حرف "هاء" مبیّن معانی روحانی عمیق و متعددی است و از جمله رمزی از هویّت الهیه می باشد.
حضرت بهاءالله به پیروان خود امر فرموده اند که ایام هاء را با وجد و سرور به برگزاری ضیافات و انفاق به فقرا و نیازمندان اختصاص دهند. حضرت ولی امرالله می فرمایند که ایام هاء مخصوص مهمان نوازی و اعطاء هدایا و از این قبیل موارد می باشد.
ایام هاء در دیانت بهائی از جایگاه رفیع و بی بدیلی برخوردار است و ادعیه و مناجات هایی مخصوص این ایام از قلم حضرت بهاءالله نازل گردیده است که بهائیان در این ایام به تلاوت آنها می پردازند.

The creative energies .....
The creative energies released by the Law of
Bahá'u'lláh, permeating and evolving within the mind of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, have, by
their very impact and close interaction, given birth to an Instrument which may
be viewed as the Charter of the New World Order which is at once the glory and
the promise of this most great Dispensation. The Will may thus be acclaimed as
the inevitable offspring resulting from that mystic intercourse between Him Who
communicated the generating influence of His divine Purpose and the One Who was
its vehicle and chosen recipient. Being the Child of the Covenant -- the Heir of
both the Originator and the Interpreter of the Law of God -- the Will and
Testament of 'Abdu'l-Bahá can no more be divorced from Him Who supplied the
original and motivating impulse than from the One Who ultimately conceived it.
Bahá'u'lláh's inscrutable purpose, we must ever bear in mind, has been so
thoroughly infused into the conduct of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, and their motives have been
so closely wedded together, that the mere attempt to dissociate the teachings of
the former from any system which the ideal Exemplar of those same teachings has
established would amount to a repudiation of one of the most sacred and basic
truths of the Faith.

That a Faith which, ten years ago, .....
That a Faith which, ten years ago, was severely shaken by the
sudden removal of an incomparable Master should have, in the face
of tremendous obstacles, maintained its unity, resisted the malignant
onslaught of its ill-wishers, silenced its calumniators, broadened
the basis of its far-flung administration, and raised upon it
institutions symbolizing its ideals of worship and service, should
be deemed sufficient evidence of the invincible power with which
the Almighty has chosen to invest it from the moment of its
inception.
That the Cause associated with the name of Bahá’u’lláh feeds
itself upon those hidden springs of celestial strength which no force
of human personality, whatever its glamour, can replace; that its
reliance is solely upon that mystic Source with which no worldly
advantage, be it wealth, fame, or learning can compare; that it
propagates itself by ways mysterious and utterly at variance with
the standards accepted by the generality of mankind, will, if not
already apparent, become increasingly manifest as it forges ahead
towards fresh conquests in its struggle for the spiritual regeneration
of mankind.
Indeed, how could it, unsupported as it has ever been by the counsels and the resources of the wise, the rich, and the learned in the land of its birth, have succeeded in breaking asunder the shackles that weighed upon it at the hour of its birth, in emerging unscathed from the storms that agitated its infancy, had not its animating breath been quickened by that spirit which is born of God, and on which all success, wherever and however it be sought, must ultimately depend?

“It would, however, be helpful and instructive to bear in mind certain basic principles
with reference to the Will and Testament of 'Abdu'l-Baha, which, together with
the Kitab-i-Aqdas, constitutes the chief depository wherein are enshrined those
priceless elements of that Divine Civilization, the establishment of which is
the primary mission of the Baha'i Faith. A study of the provisions of these
sacred documents will reveal the close relationship that exists between them, as
well as the identity of purpose and method which they inculcate. Far from
regarding their specific provisions as incompatible and contradictory in spirit,
every fair-minded inquirer will readily admit that they are not only
complementary, but that they mutually confirm one another, and are inseparable
parts of one complete unit. A comparison of their contents with the rest of
Baha'i sacred Writings will similarly establish the conformity of whatever they
contain with the spirit as well as the letter of the authenticated writings and
sayings of Baha'u'llah and 'Abdu'l-Baha. In fact, he who reads the Aqdas with
care and diligence will not find it hard to discover that the Most Holy Book
itself anticipates in a number of passages the institutions which 'Abdu'l-Baha
ordains in His Will. By leaving certain matters unspecified and unregulated in
His Book of Laws, Baha'u'llah seems to have deliberately left a gap in the
general scheme of Baha'i Dispensation, which the unequivocal provisions of the
Master's Will have filled. To attempt to divorce the one from the other, to
insinuate that the Teachings of Baha'u'llah have not been upheld, in their
entirety and with absolute integrity, by what 'Abdu'l-Baha has revealed in His
Will, is an unpardonable affront to the unswerving fidelity that has
characterized the life and labors of our beloved Master.”

THE PROSPERITY OF HUMANKIND
As the twentieth century draws to a close, it is no longer possible
to maintain the belief that the approach to social and economic development to
which the materialistic conception of life has given rise is capable of meeting
humanity's needs. Optimistic forecasts about the changes it would generate
have vanished into the ever-widening abyss that separates the living standards
of a small and relatively diminishing minority of the world's inhabitants from
the poverty experienced by the vast majority of the globe's population.
This unprecedented economic crisis, together with the social breakdown it has helped to engender, reflects a profound error of conception about human nature itself. For the levels of response elicited from human beings by the incentives of the prevailing order are not only inadequate, but seem almost irrelevant in the face of world events. We are being shown that, unless the development of society finds a purpose beyond the mere amelioration of material conditions, it will fail of attaining even these goals. That purpose must be sought in spiritual dimensions of life and motivation that transcend a constantly changing economic landscape and an artificially imposed division of human societies into "developed" and "developing".....

Your people are your treasures.
Over the same period, cumulative instances of political upheaval and economic turmoil on various continents have shaken governments and peoples. Societies have been brought to the brink of revolution, and in notable cases over the edge. Leaders are finding that neither arms nor riches guarantee security. Where the aspirations of the people have gone unfulfilled, a store of indignation has accrued. We recall how pointedly Bahá’u’lláh admonished the rulers of the earth: "Your people are your treasures. Beware lest your rule violate the commandments of God, and ye deliver your wards to the hands of the robber." A word of caution: No matter how captivating the spectacle of the people's fervour for change, it must be remembered that there are interests which manipulate the course of events. And, so long as the remedy prescribed by the Divine Physician is not administered, the tribulations of this age will persist and deepen. An attentive observer of the times will readily recognize the accelerated disintegration, fitful but relentless, of a world order lamentably defective....

O friends!
O friends! Black clouds have shrouded all this earth, and the darkness of
hatred and malice, of cruelty and aggression and defilement is
spreading far and wide. The people, one and all, live out their lives in
a heedless stupor and the chief virtues of man are held to be his
rapacity and his thirst for blood. Out of all the mass of humankind God
hath chosen the friends, and He hath
favoured them with His guidance and boundless grace. His purpose is
this, that we, all of us, should strive with our whole hearts to offer
ourselves up, guide others to His path, and train the souls of men—until
these frenzied beasts change to gazelles in the meadows of oneness, and
these wolves to lambs of God, and these brutish creatures to angelic
hosts; till the fires of hatred are quenched, and the flame coming out
of the sheltered vale of the Holy Shrine doth shed its splendours; till
the foul odour of the tyrant’s dunghill is blown away, and yieldeth to
the pure, sweet scents that stream from the rosebeds of faith and trust.
On that day will the weak of intellect draw on the bounty of the
divine, Universal Mind, and they whose life is but abomination will seek
out these cleansing, holy breaths.

The two main sources of human emotions are love and fear:
Love promotes compassion, kindness and respect. Love facilitates
transformation, which is a voluntary self-ordianed process. The act of
transformation can be defined differently, yet represent reality of
change.
Fear, on the hand, perpetuates cruelty, unkindness and disrespect. Jealousy is fear with a mask. Fear accepts no change and sticks
to status quo, and instead promotes revenge, disorients thoughts and
prevents the truth by hook or crook. The consequence of fear is control.

O ye beloved of the Lord!
Commit not that which defileth the limpid stream of love or destroyeth the sweet fragrance of friendship. By the righteousness of the Lord! Ye were created to show love one to another and not perversity and rancour. Take pride not in love for yourselves but in love for your fellow-creatures. Glory not in love for your country, but in love for all mankind. Let your eye be chaste, your hand faithful, your tongue truthful and your heart enlightened. Abase not the station of the learned in Baha and belittle not the rank of such rulers as administer justice amidst you. Set your reliance on the army of justice, put on the armour of wisdom, let your adorning be forgiveness and mercy and that which cheereth the hearts of the well-favoured of God.

O servants!
O servants! Lifeless is the body that is bereft of a soul, and withered
the heart that is devoid of the remembrance of its Lord. Commune with
the remembrance of the Friend and shun the enemy. Your enemy is such
things as ye have acquired of your own inclination, to which ye have
firmly clung, and whereby ye have sullied your souls. The soul hath
been created for the remembrance of the Friend; safeguard its purity.
The tongue hath been created to bear witness to God; pollute it not with
the mention of the wayward.
O servants! This nether world is the abode of demons: Guard yourselves from approaching them. By demons is meant those wayward souls who, with the burden of their evil deeds, slumber in the chambers of oblivion. Their sleep is preferable to their wakefulness, and their death is better than their life.

..... heroes of Bahá’u’lláh’s native ....
It is not necessary for me to recall, even in their briefest outline, the heart-rending details of that appalling tragedy which marked the birth-pangs of our beloved Faith, enacted in a land notorious for its unrestrained fanaticisms, its crass ignorance, its unbridled cruelty. Nor do I need to expatiate on the valor, the sublime fortitude, that defied the cruel torture-mongers of that race, or stress the number, or emphasize the purity of the lives, of those who died willingly that their Cause might live and prosper. Nor is it necessary to dwell upon the indignation which those atrocities evoked, and the feelings of unqualified admiration that surged, in the breasts of countless men and women, in regions remote from the scene of those indescribable cruelties. Suffice it to say that upon these heroes of Bahá’u’lláh’s native land was bestowed the inestimable privilege of sealing with their life-blood the early triumphs of their cherished Faith, and of paving the way for its approaching victory. In the blood of the unnumbered martyrs of Persia lay the seed of the Divinely-appointed Administration which, though transplanted from its native soil, is now budding out, under your loving care, into a new order, destined to overshadow all mankind.

Gleaned from Message of Shoghi Effendi
The two years that have elapsed since the passing of our beloved Master
have been for the Cause, as well as for mankind, years of deep anxiety
and pain. The momentous changes that are taking place in the history of
both have proved so swift and far-reaching as to arouse in certain
hearts a strange misgiving as to their stability and future.
On one hand the remarkable revelations of the Beloved’s Will and Testament, so amazing in all its aspects, so emphatic in its injunctions, have challenged and perplexed the keenest minds, whilst the ever-increasing confusion of the world, threatened as never before with disruptive forces, fierce rivalries, fresh commotions and grave disorder, has well-nigh overwhelmed the heart and damped the zeal of even the most enthusiastic believer in the destiny of mankind.
And yet, how often we seem to forget the clear and repeated warnings of our beloved Master, who, in particular during the concluding years of His mission on earth, laid stress on the “severe mental tests” that would inevitably sweep over His loved ones of the West — tests that would purge, purify and prepare them for their noble mission in life.

On one hand the remarkable revelations of the Beloved’s Will and Testament, so amazing in all its aspects, so emphatic in its injunctions, have challenged and perplexed the keenest minds, whilst the ever-increasing confusion of the world, threatened as never before with disruptive forces, fierce rivalries, fresh commotions and grave disorder, has well-nigh overwhelmed the heart and damped the zeal of even the most enthusiastic believer in the destiny of mankind.
And yet, how often we seem to forget the clear and repeated warnings of our beloved Master, who, in particular during the concluding years of His mission on earth, laid stress on the “severe mental tests” that would inevitably sweep over His loved ones of the West — tests that would purge, purify and prepare them for their noble mission in life.

"We are closer to man than his life-vein"
Behold, how immeasurably exalted is the Lord your God
above all created things! Witness the majesty of His sovereignty, His
ascendancy, and supreme
power. If the things which have been created by Him -- magnified be His
glory -- and ordained to be the manifestations of His names and
attributes,
stand, by virtue of the grace with which they have been endowed, exalted
beyond all proximity and remoteness, how much loftier must be that
Divine
Essence that hath called them into being?...
Meditate on what the poet hath written: "Wonder not, if my Best-Beloved be closer to me than mine own self; wonder at this, that I, despite such nearness, should still be so far from Him."... Considering what God hath revealed, that "We are closer to man than his life-vein," the poet hath, in allusion to this verse, stated that, though the revelation of my Best-Beloved hath so permeated my being that He is closer to me than my life-vein, yet, notwithstanding my certitude of its reality and my recognition of my station, I am still so far removed from Him. By this he meaneth that his heart, which is the seat of the All-Merciful and the throne wherein abideth the splendor of His revelation, is forgetful of its Creator, hath strayed from His path, hath shut out itself from His glory, and is stained with the defilement of earthly desires.

I sorrow not for the burden of My imprisonment….
I sorrow not for the burden of My imprisonment. Neither do I grieve
over My abasement, or the tribulation I suffer at the hands of Mine
enemies. By My life! They are My glory, a glory wherewith God hath
adorned His own Self. Would that ye know it!
The shame I was made to bear hath uncovered the glory with which the whole
of creation had been invested, and through the cruelties I have
endured, the Day Star of Justice hath manifested itself, and shed its
splendor upon men.
My sorrows are for those who have involved
themselves in their corrupt passions, and claim to be associated with
the Faith of God, the Gracious, the All-Praised.
It behoveth
the people of Bahá to die to the world and all that is therein, to be so
detached from all earthly things that the inmates of Paradise may
inhale from their garment the sweet smelling savor of sanctity, that all
the peoples of the earth may recognize in their faces the brightness of
the All-Merciful, and that through them may be spread abroad the signs
and tokens of God, the Almighty, the All-Wise. They that have
tarnished the fair name of the Cause of God, by following the things of
the flesh—these are in palpable error!
